Project List
Group 01 - HYGROCORK – Sistema Inteligente de Medição e Calibração de Humidade em Granulados de Cortiça
Proposing company: Azevedos Indústria - Máquinas e Equipamentos Industriais SA
Supervisors:
Ernesto Martins (DETI)
,
João Peixoto (Azevedos Indústria - Máquinas e Equipamentos Industriais SA)
This project aims to develop a portable system capable of monitoring continuosly the relative humidity of cork during its production, generating calibration curves and exporting said curves to production machines, while also having a graphical user interface to interect with it all. The solution achieved revolves around one key sensor, the P78 industrial transducer, capable of measuring the electrical permittivity from materials and, from there, derive its relative humidity.
Group 03 - MONITORIZAÇÃO AMBIENTAL
Proposing company: Ubiwhere
Supervisors:
Óscar Pereira (DETI)
,
Bruno Feitais (Ubiwhere)
Developed in collaboration with UbiWhere, this project aims to create an affordable and efficient environmental monitoring system using low-cost sensors and the ESP32 platform. The goal is to collect real-time data—such as temperature, humidity, air quality (CO₂ and carbon monoxide), luminosity, noise, and weather conditions—and transmit it via MQTT protocol to a central database. The solution stands out for its scalability and adaptability, enabling seamless integration into Smart City infras...
Group 04 - Sistema sem fios inteligente para localização de wafers e gelpacks
Proposing company: PICadvanced
Supervisors:
Armando Rocha (DETI)
,
Carla Rodrigues (PICadvanced)
This project aims to implement an innovative solution for the traceability and monitoring of gelpacks and wafers inside the cleanroom, using RFID technology. In a context where operational efficiency is crucial, the proposed system seeks to identify and locate gelpacks and wafers in real time. This approach aims to minimise human errors and facilitate the search for components. To ensure its effectiveness, the project follows an iterative and practical approach, integrating new technologies a...
Group 05 - Wireless Display
Proposing company: Bosch Termotecnologia, SA
Supervisors:
Osvaldo Pacheco (DETI/UA)
,
Ricardo Rodrigues (Bosch Termotecnologia, SA)
The Wireless Display project, developed for Bosch Termotecnologia, SA, introduces a portable solution for the Human-Machine Interface (HMI) of water heaters. By virtualizing a physical UART connection through Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), it grants technicians freedom of movement within a 10-meter range. Featuring advanced power management with over 4 hours of autonomy, a custom 3D-printed enclosure with magnetic mounting, and real-time OLED monitoring, it redefines maintenance efficiency.
Group 06 - Low-Cost LED Analyzer for Network Devices
Proposing company: Altice LAbs
Supervisors:
Francisco Fontes (DETI – University of Aveiro and Altice Labs)
,
Nuno Balseiro (Altice Labs)
,
Helder Alves (Altice Labs)
This project presents the development of a low-cost LED analyzer designed for routers and gateways. The system enables objective measurement of LED color, luminous intensity, and estimated wavelength using accessible hardware and modular software. By combining optical isolation, color sensors, and automated data processing, the prototype offers a reliable and cost-effective alternative to traditional industrial validation equipment.
Group 07 - Display Sniffer
Proposing company: Bosch Termotecnologia, SA
Supervisors:
Vitor Cunha (DETI)
,
Francisco Pinto (Bosch Termotecnlogia, SA)
The Display Sniffer, virtualizes a boiler’s HMI by passively reading and decoding SPI display signals from the control board. It reproduces the interface in real time on a WiFi‑accessible web page and allows sending button‑like commands back to the unit. This enables full remote interaction without altering the original system, improving maintenance, usability, and flexibility.
Group 08 - Cleanroom Telemetry System
Proposing company: PICadvanced
Supervisors:
Paulo Salvador (DETI)
,
Carla Rodrigues (PICadvanced)
To guarantee the precision of PICadvanced's testing of optoelectronic transceivers, we developed a Cleanroom Telemetry System. This solution monitors critical environmental data, such as temperature, humidity, vibrations, and particles in real-time. Built on a robust architecture using Zigbee sensors, Docker, and the ELK Stack, it features automated email alerting and custom visualization dashboards, ensuring a strictly controlled environment for high-tech manufacturing.
Group 09 - Câmara térmica inteligente para sistema de testes de produção automáticos
Proposing company: PICadvanced
Supervisors:
Pedro Fonseca (DETI)
,
Ricardo Ferreira (PicAdvanced)
Compact smart thermal module for automated production testing of opto-electronic transceivers, using a TEC (Peltier) + copper block + liquid cooling loop approach for heating (~+90 °C) and cooling (~–10 °C). The system includes a local/remote GUI implemented on a Raspberry Pi 5 (localhost) with a touch HMI. The application allows setpoint definition, test profile execution and logging, and real-time monitoring.
